OUR HISTORY
For nearly a century, Saint-Hubert Airport has held a central place in Canada’s aviation history. From its early days as an airfield to its role as a military base and training hub, the site has continually evolved with the times. Renamed MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport in 2023, it is now entering a new chapter of growth, guided by a clear vision: to better connect Greater Montreal with modern, accessible, and future-focused aviation. This is its story.

SINCE 1925
Nearly a century ago, our airport was among the first in Canada to embrace the possibilities of air travel, at a time when aviation was just beginning to take shape.
Back then, the city of Saint-Hubert, as we know it today, was little more than open countryside. As history has shown time and again, airports are powerful engines of economic growth and connectivity. The city expanded around the airport, evolving into the thriving community we share today.

FROM ST-HUBERT TO MET
Over the years, the airport has continuously adapted to the needs of its time. At various points, it has served as a civil aviation hub, an academic training ground, and a military base when duty called. In 2023, it was renamed MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport, reaffirming its role in civil aviation and elevating its status to a commercial airport serving destinations across Canada. This development project shines all the more brightly because it is propelled by the strength of a business partnership with Porter Airlines and Macquarie Asset Management. This new mission is driven by a long-standing need: in a world more interconnected than ever, the prosperity of a major metropolitan region like Greater Montreal depends on how efficiently it connects people.
